DFS: Week 9 Quarterback Value Rankings
Here are theScore's quarterback value rankings for Week 9 (Thursday night game excluded):
Value Rankings
QB | RB | WR | TE
Top 3
# | NAME | OPPONENT | RISK |
---|---|---|---|
1 | Philip Rivers (SD) | vs. CHI | Low |
2 | Tom Brady (NE) | vs. WAS | Low |
3 | Drew Brees (NO) | vs. TEN | Low |
Rivers has the best matchup of the week as he tangles with a Bears defense that has surrendered a mind-boggling 16 passing touchdowns with just four interceptions. Brady will do what Brady does against the poor visiting Redskins, while Brees should never be doubted again when playing in the confines of the Mercedez-Benz Superdome. He's pretty good there.

Next 3
# | NAME | OPPONENT | RISK |
---|---|---|---|
4 | Derek Carr (OAK) | at PIT | Low |
5 | Jameis Winston (TB) | vs. NYG | Low |
6 | Matt Ryan (ATL) | at SF | Low |
Carr is back on the sleeper radar following a four-touchdown performance against the Jets; an encounter with the reeling Steelers should allow him to maintain that momentum. Winston's high ranking is a product of the Giants' dreadful defense, while Ryan's late heroics earned him a reprieve; he'll need to be great in San Francisco, or risk falling into medium-risk territory.

Best of the Rest
# | NAME | OPPONENT | RISK |
---|---|---|---|
7 | Eli Manning (NYG) | at TB | Medium |
8 | Ben Roethlisberger (PIT) | vs. OAK | Medium |
9 | Cam Newton (CAR) | vs. GB | Medium |
10 | Tyrod Taylor (BUF) | vs. MIA | Medium |
11 | Jay Cutler (CHI) | at SD | Medium |
12 | Marcus Mariota (TEN) | at NO | Medium |
13 | Ryan Fitzpatrick (NYJ) | vs. JAC | Medium |
14 | Sam Bradford (PHI) | at DAL | Medium |
15 | Peyton Manning (DEN) | at IND | Medium |
Fresh off throwing for six touchdowns in a losing effort, Eli faces another plus matchup against the generous Buccaneers. Taylor's recovery couldn't have come at a better time for the struggling Bills, while Peyton's return to Indy should have plenty of drama, but not necessarily many touchdown passes. The older Manning brother is close to becoming a DFS non-factor.

Nothing to See Here
# | NAME | OPPONENT | RISK |
---|---|---|---|
16 | Ryan Tannehill (MIA) | at BUF | High |
17 | Aaron Rodgers (GB) | at CAR | High |
18 | Andrew Luck (IND) | vs. DEN | High |
19 | Nick Foles (STL) | at MIN | High |
20 | Blake Bortles (JAC) | at NYJ | High |
21 | Blaine Gabbert (SF) | vs. ATL | High |
22 | Teddy Bridgewater (MIN) | vs. STL | High |
23 | Kirk Cousins (WAS) | at NE | High |
24 | Matt Cassel (DAL) | vs. PHI | High |
Rodgers and Luck are strong fade candidates this week, with Rodgers facing the stingy Panthers in Carolina and Luck getting all he can handle from the Broncos' league-best defense. Bortles may be able to take advantage of a Jets defense that has struggled against the pass in back-to-back weeks; he's the best of this bunch, but still not a recommended play.
