Arians: Michael Floyd will probably reclaim starting job from John Brown
Bruce Arians really doesn't care about your fantasy team.
Days after Arians told fantasy owners "tough sh--" when wide receiver John Brown was active but didn't play in the Arizona Cardinals' Week 8 game, Arians had another message for Brown's fantasy owners.
Don't count on Brown producing for your team moving forward. In fact, you might want to pick up Michael Floyd.
Arian praised Floyd, who has come on strong in recent weeks after a slow start to the season brought on by a hand injury, suggesting he could soon take on a much larger role.
"He got hurt, Smoke (Brown) took his job and now he's probably going to take it back," Arians said of Floyd's resurgence, according to ESPN's Britt McHenry.
That Arians can even consider demoting Brown from the starting lineup is just the latest indication of the embarrassment of riches the Cardinals have on their depth chart.
This isn't even an unprecedented situation. Running back Andre Ellington, by all accounts one of the NFL's more dangerous players in space, has been reduced to role-player status by Chris Johnson's renaissance. Rookie David Johnson, an exciting prospect in his own right, can barely get on the field because of the talent ahead of him.
Arians has built a system where the Cardinals aren't just competing with their opponents, they're competing with teammates to get on the field. The model is yielding tremendous results.
