Report: Romo done for season after suffering clavicle injury vs. Panthers
Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo is done for the season after suffering a clavicle injury during Thursday's 33-14 loss to the Carolina Panthers, ESPN's Ed Werder reports.
Romo, who is expected to undergo an MRI on Friday, suffered the injury after being tackled by Panthers linebacker Thomas Davis during the third quarter and was immediately taken to the locker room for X-rays.
After the game, Romo said the injury felt similar to the broken clavicle that kept him out for eight weeks earlier in the season. Thursday's game was Romo's second outing since getting back into the lineup.
"We wouldn't let Tony play if he wasn't ready to play physically," said head coach Jason Garrett. "There's no evidence that we brought him back too soon."
The 3-8 Cowboys will once again need to prepare for life without their starting quarterback. The team failed to capture a single win during the seven games Romo missed earlier in the year.
Matt Cassel took over in Romo's absence, going 13-of-19 for 93 yards with a touchdown against the Panthers. Romo finished 11-of-21 for 106 yards and three interceptions.
