Brandon Marshall wants to finish career with Jets: 'I'm not playing for another team'

New York Jets wide receiver Brandon Marshall has been one of the most dominant players at his position of the last decade.

However, he has struggled to find a permanent home, with the Jets as the fourth team he has suited up for in his 10-year career.

Stints with the Denver Broncos, Chicago Bears, and Miami Dolphins were all successful in varying degrees, but Marshall wore out his welcome with every team, with off-the-field issues always playing a part in his departure.

Now, Marshall is done hopping from team to team. The Jets will be the last stop on his NFL journey before he leaves for other ventures, which he has already begun, becoming part of Showtime's "Inside the NFL" show.

"Once the Jets say, 'We don’t need you anymore,' I'm going to venture off into that world," Marshall told Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News. "I'm not playing for another team. Four is all I need. It's too hard to make new friends and relationships and deal with different egos. I don't like the business already. So I'm not trying to deal with that."

At 31 years old, Marshall knows he is still feared by opposing defenses by the attention they afford him, which appears to fuel his desire to continue playing.

"If I'm going out there and teams aren't doubling me to try to take me out, then I feel like I'm not doing something right," Marshall said. "This year they're still doubling me and game-planning for me, so I'm still a factor. That's respect."

Marshall appeared to have lost a step in 2014, with many suggesting it was the beginning of the inevitable decline that every NFL player must face. Instead, Marshall is in the midst of one of his best seasons, with 71 catches, 931 yards, and nine touchdowns so far this season.

"I'm smarter," Marshall said when asked how he could still play at the same level as he did earlier in his career. "And I'm still in tip-top shape."
