J.J. Watt to wear 'full club' on broken hand vs. Patriots
J.J. Watt's broken hand will be heavily protected for Sunday's game against the New England Patriots.
In an interview with Bob Costas, which will air during NBC's "Football Night in America," the Houston Texans defensive end said he'll be playing with a "full club" on his hand.
"I don't think it's going to affect me as much as it may come off," Watt told Costas, per Pro Football Talk. "It's going to be completely closed, so it will be in a full club. I know ways to not have to use the left hand as much, and I also know that I can use it.
"It's just a pain tolerance thing," Watt added. "It's at that point where I'm really not going to mess it up any more, it's just how much pain you're willing to play with. The only thing I won't be able to do is grab. I won't be able to grab, and pull, and shed necessarily, but I'll be able to make up for it. All week, since it happened, I've been thinking of things in my mind that I can do to make up for it."
Watt didn't practice Thursday or Friday, but maintained all week that he would be good to go. The two-time Defensive Player of the Year has never missed a game during his five-year NFL career.
