Seahawks' Sherman proposes 4 ways to fix NFL officiating
Matthew Emmons-USA TODAY Sports
Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman is one of the NFL's most thoughtful players, so it should come as no surprise he has a multi-point plan to fix officiating at the ready.
Writing for The MMQB, Sherman outlined his plan, which has four main points:
- Simplify the rule book.
- Add an eighth official to the field.
- Change where the officials stand to improve sight lines.
- Improve communication between officials and players.
Sherman goes into detail in the essay, especially with respect to how he would reconfigure where officials stand to improve their accuracy, and it's well worth your time to read the whole thing.
He concludes by admitting that he's nitpicking, suggesting that officiating isn't nearly as bad as many fans believe and pointing out that officials are doing the best job they can.
