Marshawn Lynch awarded trademark for 'I'm just here so I won't get fined" phrase

At last season's Super Bowl media day, Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch turned his contempt for being required to attend media events into a fun catchphrase.

"I'm just here so I won't get fined" was Lynch's response to every question he was asked by reporters.

Now, Lynch can expand on his brand after being granted the trademark for the phrase by the U.S Patent and Trademark Office on Tuesday.

Lynch filed for the trademark several weeks after media day, but it's taken nearly a full year for him to gain the trademark.

He will now be able to use the phrase on sweatshirts, hats, and other apparel. Lynch has been selling T-shirts with the slogan since April.
