Report: Chargers join Rams' bid to move to Inglewood

The San Diego Chargers have reportedly received permission to join the St. Louis Rams' relocation bid centered around a proposed stadium in Inglewood, Calif., according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
It was widely reported that the Rams would require a partner in their bid to move to the Los Angeles area.
The NFL is expected to appease the Oakland Raiders, the third party that's attempting to relocate to L.A. The league would help them find another site in Oakland, according to Rapoport, while Andrew Brandt of ESPN speculates they'd receive a "financial consolation prize."
During the first round of voting, the Rams' plan to move to Inglewood with another partner gained 21 of 32 possible votes, falling shy of the 24 required to relocate. An initiative stipulating the Rams would move to Los Angeles alone was rejected by the six-owner committee that evaluates stadium options, reported Vincent Bonsignore of the Los Angeles Daily News.
In an earlier meeting Tuesday, the committee voted 5-1 in favor of a Carson, Calif. initiative that would see the Chargers and Raiders share a $1.7-billion stadium. The proposed stadium was approved by Carson City Council last April.
Roger Goodell discussed a new proposal with all three owners, reports Sam Farmer of the Los Angeles Times, which likely led to the new collaboration between the Chargers and Rams.
Steelers owner Art Rooney said the vote hadn't been completed and is unsure when an agreement will take place, according to Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune. Rooney is one of the six members of the committee.
