Ravens expect Terrell Suggs to return for 2016 season
Terrell Suggs' 2015 season ended before it really even began. Suggs suffered a season-ending Achilles injury in Baltimore's opener against the Denver Broncos.
In good news for Ravens fans, the team expects the veteran linebacker to return for another season.
"In my last conversation to him, his answer to me was: I don't want to leave the game the way I left in Denver," Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome said in a press conference Thursday. "So, I think he's using that as motivation."
The Ravens' once-promising campaign was capsized due to injuries, and Suggs stayed out of the limelight while the team fell to 5-11.
Suggs had developed a reputation as an iron man, playing the entirety of four of his past five seasons.
"He's had that injury before, so he knows what it takes to get back," Newsome said. "I'm just looking forward to him getting back in here and being involved in the (organized team activities) and going through training camp and seeing where he is."
With the Ravens entering a state of transition between their dominant roster of yesteryear and a new future led by C.J. Mosley and Brandon Williams, Suggs will be counted upon to bridge the generational gap.
