Pittsburgh Steelers outside linebackers coach Joey Porter landed in hot water after engaging with Cincinnati Bengals players on the field during Saturday's wild-card game, and now the team is going on damage control.

The Steelers have banned reporters from talking to Porter this week, according to Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Porter appeared to confront several Bengals players after Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown was hit hard by linebacker Vontaze Burfict.

NFL vice president of officiating Dean Blandino acknowledged Tuesday that Porter shouldn't have been on the field.

"Assistant coaches shouldn't be on the field during an injury timeout," Blandino said on Tuesday's edition of "NFL Total Access," according to Pro Football Talk.

"Medical staff, head coach can check on the welfare of a player. But we don't want assistant coaches out there. It happens, especially when there's the potential for a serious injury."

Porter is reportedly facing a fine from the NFL for his actions.
