Justin Tuck retiring after 11 seasons
Oakland Raiders defensive end Justin Tuck is retiring after 11 seasons as a pro.
The 32-year old told FOX Sports he is ready to call it a career.
"It's been like a tug of war, and finally the rope broke," Tuck said. "And where I fell was retirement."
Tuck's 2015 season ended in Week 5 due to a torn pectoral muscle. It sounds like that, plus the accumulation of other injuries, weighed heavily in Tuck's decision.
"Physically, I feel like I can play with the best of them. It's hilarious I got hurt on the most fluky play ever, but it's part of it and maybe that was God trying to tell me something. I'm looking forward to being able to do something else."
A third-round pick in 2005, Tuck spent the first nine seasons of his career with the New York Giants. He won two Super Bowls in his time in the Big Apple, playing a major role in each of them (to the extent many have argued he should have been named Super Bowl MVP at least once).
Over his 11 seasons, Tuck recorded 66.5 sacks and forced 22 fumbles. He made the Pro Bowl twice.
