Detroit Lions cornerback Darius Slay received some high praise from one of the greatest defensive backs in NFL history.

NFL Network analyst Deion Sanders provided Slay with a rousing endorsement, believing that the 24-year-old is among the top cornerbacks in the game.

"Darius Slay is good, man," Sanders said to Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press. "I like the kid. He reached out to me early on coming into the league, calls me from time to time. I like him."

Slay recorded 59 tackles, 13 passes defensed, and two interceptions, while emerging as a darling of the analytic community.

"Study, prepare. Study, prepare," Sanders advised Slay. "Whatever you put in the game, you're going to get out of it."

Starring as one of the anchors of the Lions' defense last season, Slay is slated to become an unrestricted free agent in 2017, and may be in line to receive a massive extension before he hits the open market.
