Set to hit free agency March 9, Josh Norman and the Carolina Panthers have yet to begin negotiations on a long-term deal, sources told Joseph Person of The Charlotte Observer.
The Panthers generally don't negotiate new contracts until the NFL Combine, which explains why there have been no talks as of yet.
However, with the cornerback expected to become one of the highest paid players at his position, it's surprising that even preliminary discussions have yet to take place.
The Panthers are able to place the franchise tag on Norman, which teams are able to do starting Tuesday. The tag for cornerbacks is projected to be $13.7 million.
The 28-year-old turned down a contract averaging $7.5 million before the 2015 season.
