ATLANTA - Atlanta Falcons defensive line coach Bryan Cox is apologizing for an altercation with another team's scout at the NFL combine in Indianapolis.
According to several media reports, Cox shoved a scout from the Arizona Cardinals on Friday night in a dispute over access to a rookie during the interview process.
Cox issued a statement Sunday saying, ''I intend to apologize to the young man for the incident.'' He also says, ''It shouldn't have happened.''
Cox, who spent more than a decade in the NFL as a player, is heading into his third season as a Falcons assistant.
