Despite not having played since 2013, former Pro Bowl tight end Kellen Winslow Jr. says he is healthy and ready to attempt a comeback to the NFL.

"My body feels good enough to come back and play at a high level, even better I think because I'm just a little wiser," Winslow said Friday on SiriusXM NFL Radio, according to FOX Sports' Alex Marvez. "It was good to get away from the game just to work on me.

"I want to be a better player than I was before. I think I can."

The sixth overall pick in 2004, Winslow played in only two games in his first two seasons as a pro due to major knee injuries, one of which he suffered in a motorcycle accident.

Injuries also helped end Winslow's career, as did a 2013 arrest after a woman told police Winslow was visibly masturbating in a parked vehicle. Winslow was charged with possession of synthetic marijuana.

Since leaving the NFL, the 32-year-old Winslow has taken up competitive cycling. Now, he says the itch to play football has made him set his cycling goals aside.

"I just decided, 'Man, it's time to put the bike down for a little bit,'" said Winslow. "The bike can wait. Guys are racing until they're 50, 60 years old. But the NFL can't wait. There's only a certain amount of years you have."
