The Miami Dolphins are in talks with the Philadelphia Eagles regarding a possible trade involving Eagles cornerback Byron Maxwell, a source told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
The Eagles gave Maxwell a blockbuster six-year, $63-million deal in free agency one year ago, then watched him struggle badly in a featured role in Chip Kelly's defense.
There's a new regime running the show in Philadelphia now, and it appears Maxwell may not be part of the plans.
It's difficult to imagine how the Dolphins can afford to pay Maxwell's sizable salary with their current salary-cap situation, but perhaps the team has a few other moves in mind that would clear space.
