The Dallas Cowboys discussed making a trade to re-acquire running back DeMarco Murray from the Philadelphia Eagles, but weren't willing to meet the compensation demands, ESPN's Ed Werder reports.

Murray led the NFL in rushing in 2014 as a member of the Cowboys, but departed in free agency for the Eagles a year ago. In Philadelphia, he endured a down season and found himself on the outs with the team after the firing of former head coach Chip Kelly.

The Tennessee Titans are reportedly finalizing a deal to acquire Murray (the trade can't become official until Wednesday) for what is likely an undisclosed draft pick.

Whatever the Titans gave up, it is apparently too rich for the Cowboys. According to Werder, the Cowboys were unwilling to meet the Eagles' demands, nor take on Murray's hefty salary guarantees as they stand now.
