The Philadelphia Eagles and Miami Dolphins appeared to be closing in on the first blockbuster trade of the offseason, but injury concerns have reportedly put things on hold.

The teams were reportedly trying to finalize a deal that would send cornerback Byron Maxwell and linebacker Kiko Alonso to the Dolphins in exchange for draft-pick compensation. However, ESPN's Ed Werder reports that the Dolphins have concerns over a shoulder injury Maxwell sustained late last season and consider the trade to be "dead."

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport confirms the Dolphins are taking a closer look at Maxwell's shoulder, but reports the deal isn't off yet.

Additionally, Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reports that the Eagles consider the process ongoing and are still trying to complete a trade.

Maxwell suffered what was described as a sprained shoulder in Week 15 and was sidelined for the season's remaining two games. He told the Eagles he was fine at the end of the year, but informed a Dolphins doctor during a physical he couldn't do the bench press or push-ups, according to Les Bowen of the Philadelphia Daily News.
