The Atlanta Falcons have reunited with quarterback Matt Schaub, who they originally drafted back in 2004, the team announced Wednesday.

Schaub will likely battle for the right to backup starter Matt Ryan, with Sean Renfree the only other signal-caller on the roster.

The 34-year-old's career has taken a dramatic downturn since his final year with the Houston Texans in 2012.

Schaub has had brief stints with the Oakland Raiders and the Baltimore Ravens, but has failed to recapture the form that allowed him to hold down the starting job in Houston for seven years.

He has particularly struggled to protect the football, amazingly throwing more pick-6's since leaving Houston, than touchdowns.

At this point of his career, Schaub is suited to a backup role.
