Free-agent cornerback Casey Hayward agreed to terms with the San Diego Chargers on a three-year contract, the team announced Sunday.

Although financial terms of the deal weren't disclosed by the club, NFL Network's Rand Getlin reports that Hayward signed a $15.3-million contract. According to Bob McGinn of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, $6.8 million is guaranteed.

Hayward recorded 65 tackles in all 16 games with the Green Bay Packers.

The veteran will likely be utilized as the team's third cornerback, although he will challenge Brandon Flowers for the starting left cornerback position.

Hayward excelled in the slot during his four years with the Packers, and proved more than capable on the outside.

With Damarious Randall and Quinten Rollins showing glimpses of stardom in their rookie years, the Packers likely viewed the 26-year-old Hayward as expendable.
