The New England Patriots signed linebacker Shea McClellin to a three-year contract, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
McClellin recorded 81 tackles and a forced fumble in 12 games with the Chicago Bears last season.
The veteran linebacker previously visited with the New York Jets and Seattle Seahawks during free agency.
McClellin will be tasked with cracking a linebacker duo that includes standouts Jamie Collins, Dont'a Hightower, and Jonathan Freeny.
Chicago selected McClellin in the first round of the 2012 NFL Draft.
With Danny Trevathan and Jerrell Freeman signing with the Bears in free agency, McClellin was rendered expendable.
