- Rob Gronkowski continues his reign as the king of tight ends, a fact that remains absolute. With growing depth at the position, owners who miss out on drafting the Patriots star can comfortably wait until the later rounds to find a starter.
- The return of wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin could have a minor effect on Greg Olsen's consistency, but Cam Newton's favorite target should still be the second tight end off the board in drafts.
- With Marvin Jones and Mohamed Sanu departing in free agency, Tyler Eifert will be an excellent starter who's capable of winning weeks for his owners. Regression will be coming on his inflated touchdown total from 2015, but double-digit scores should be within his grasp.
- Ladarius Green will once again receive an abundance of hype heading into the season, and this time it may actually be warranted for the newest Steeler. It's sad to see Martavis Bryant suspended for the year, but his absence will give Green a chance to deliver on the potential that has teased fantasy owners for so long.
- Gronk's new teammate Martellus Bennett is one year removed from a 90-catch, 916-yard, six-touchdown campaign with the Bears, and is more than capable of putting up those stats again given the opportunity. While he's likely to be the third or fourth option in New England's passing attack, Bennett can still produce TE1 numbers, and is a Gronkowski injury away from entering the top five.
- Jimmy Graham may not be ready for the start of the season and could even be a candidate for the reserve/PUP list as he rehabs from a torn patellar tendon. It's the kind of injury that could be career-altering for the 29-year-old.
- Players who may surprise this season: Coby Fleener (plenty of targets in the Saints' offense; Drew Brees has an affinity for his tight ends), Dwayne Allen (alone atop Indy's depth chart; Andrew Luck will be back under center), Austin Seferian-Jenkins (ready to take on a bigger role in the offense; chemistry building with Jameis Winston), Zach Miller (Bears brought him back as the No. 1 TE after flashes of greatness last season; make sure you draft the right Zach Miller).
