Jets GM on Fitzpatrick: 'Our goal is to eventually get him under contract'
Ryan Fitzpatrick had the best season of his career in 2015 with the New York Jets and he wants to be paid accordingly.
Fitzpatrick and the Jets were reportedly "far apart" in contract talks a week ago, but, after the Denver Broncos couldn't meet his salary demands, the Jets are remaining positive he will return.
Maccagnan on Fitzpatrick: “He’s a very good fit for us...Our goal is to eventually get him under contract.”

Jets general manager Mike Maccagnan also hinted that their interest in Robert Griffin III wasn't as serious as some may have previously thought and he may have been part of negotiation tactics.
Maccagnan on RGIII: “It was more to do our due diligence…He was a player we looked at but our focus is to get something done with Ryan.”

Fitzpatrick is the best option at quarterback on the open market right now and with uncertain situations under center in Cleveland, Denver, and San Francisco there's no certainty Fitzpatrick will return to New York.
