Steelers grab WR Demarcus Ayers in 7th round

The Pittsburgh Steelers have selected receiver Demarcus Ayers out of Houston in the seventh round of the 2016 NFL Draft, 229th overall.
Ayers had more than 1,200 yards receiving last season to go along with 98 catches and will give Pittsburgh some depth at the wideout spot.

- Lacks ideal size for the NFL game.
- Utilized almost exclusively on bubble screens and speed outs in Houston's spread attack, lacks experience in a full route tree.
- Offensive scheme often created separation, struggles with press cornerbacks.
- Likely should have returned for senior year to polish receiving skills.
