Red Wings' Drew Miller: Could get contract renewal
Miller, a pending unrestricted free agent, is under consideration for a contract extension by the Red Wings, MLive.com reports.
Analysis:
Detroit worked with a penalty kill that was only decent in 2015-16, as it ranked 14th in the league at 81.6 percent. Miller excels in shorthanded situations, so it would make sense to keep him in the fold, especially if general manager Ken Holland can retain him at a reasonable rate -- Miller certainly didn't break the bank last year at $1.35 million. He underwent surgery to reconstruct his left ACL in January, but the recovery reportedly has gone well for the 32-year-old winger. Consider this nugget an FYI to fans of the Winged Wheel. He lacks fantasy value, having eclipsed the 20-point mark just once in his nine-year career.
