The Detroit Red Wings used the 20th overall pick at the 2016 NHL Draft to select Chilliwack Chiefs defenseman Dennis Cholowski.
Cholowski is a skilled puck mover that dominated the Canadian Junior A ranks in his draft season. He will make a considerable jump in competition next season in transitioning to Division I with St. Cloud State.
Very much an enterprise for the Red Wings, Cholowski will need to pack muscle onto his 6-foot-1 frame to compete at the NHL level.
Detroit selected at No. 20 after moving down four slots, and shedding the contract of Pavel Datsyuk, in a trade with the Arizona Coyotes.
