The Pittsburgh Penguins have kept Tim Erixon in the system, signing him to a two-way contract Monday, the team announced.
Erixon will earn $575,000 at the NHL level, Dave Molinari of the Pittsburgh-Post Gazette reports.
The 25-year-old former first-round pick, acquired as part of the package that brought Phil Kessel to Pittsburgh, chipped in 20 points in 65 games with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.
Erixon last appeared at the NHL level in 2014-15, dressing in 52 games split between the Columbus Blue Jackets, Chicago Blackhawks, and Toronto Maple Leafs.
