Heatherington broke his wrist during practice and will be out at least six weeks.
Analysis:
Heatherington is now all but ruled out for a spot on the Blue Jackets' Opening Night roster, so he will likely report to AHL Cleveland once healthy. The blueliner has yet to make his NHL debut; however, given his production from the point in the minors last season -- three goals and 16 assists -- he will likely be on coach John Tortorella's short list should Columbus need a stand-in during the 2016-17 campaign.
