Oilers' Kris Russell: Agrees to one-year deal with Edmonton
Russell agreed to terms with the Oilers on a one-year contract Friday. According to General Fanager, the deal is worth $3.1 million.
Analysis:
Oilers general manager Peter Chiarelli did some roster work Friday. The Oil parted ways with former first overall pick Nail Yakupov -- he's heading for St. Louis -- in exchange for Zach Pochiro and a conditional 2017 third-round draft choice, before acquiring one of the league's best shot-blocking blueliners in Russell. It's not clear where he'll line up on the depth chart, but Russell is capable of logging big minutes.
