Howard was named the home starter for Thursday's clash with the Canucks, Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press reports.
Analysis:
Howard has been magnificent on the young season, surrendering only seven goals over six appearances between the posts. He's about to make his third consecutive start as Petr Mrazek, who technically remains the No. 1 backstop, gets a much-needed mental break as the owner of a 3.18 goals-against average.
