Red Wings' Jared Coreau: Mixed results in NHL debut
Coreau took a loss in his NHL debut Saturday, allowing four goals on 36 shots to the Penguins.
Analysis:
The final numbers might not look the best on paper, but Coreau showed flashes of promise in this one. He stoned Sidney Crosby early in the game, held the Pens scoreless in the first period, and stood on his head with a crowd of opponents packing the crease during the second stanza. Unfortunately, Coreau and Co. allowed four unanswered goals in the third frame. The rookie should remain on the active roster as long as Jimmy Howard (groin) is out of action -- the veteran backstop's not expected back until the middle of next week at the earliest.
