Red Wings' Anthony Mantha: Continues to be asset
Mantha went plus-1 with four shots, a hit, and a blocked shot in Sunday's 4-3 overtime win over the Islanders.
Analysis:
Monster Mantha tends to make his presence felt, even if he fails to get on the scoreboard. Lugging his 6-foot-5 frame in front of the cage, the power winger gives goalies fits by blocking their line of sight. The Red Wings have experienced a rash of maladies up front, and Mantha was the first man called up from AHL Grand Rapids when the injury bug claimed its first victim, Andreas Athanasiou (knee), who has been out nearly a month and recently transferred to long-term injured reserve. Given all the injuries, we believe Mantha could stay awhile in Detroit.
