It wasn't the ending Colorado Avalanche goaltender Jeremy Smith wanted, but it was the one the New Jersey Devils did.
Smith made his first NHL start after more than 300 games in the minors, but he had no chance on the third and final goal he allowed Tuesday night, as Devils forwards Taylor Hall and Kyle Palmieri worked a 2-on-1 brilliantly.
The Devils won 3-2, and the goal was Palmieri's 15th of the season and third game-winner.
As for Smith, he did more than well in his debut, stopping 37 of 40 shots.
