Watch: Laine's lethal shot gives him 33 goals on the season
The Winnipeg Jets' playoff hopes may be fading, but Patrik Laine is still producing.
Laine tied Monday's game against the Nashville Predators with a terrific wrist shot early in the second period.
It was the rookie's 33rd goal and 60th point in his 62nd game, and it moved him into a tie with Montreal Canadiens forward Max Pacioretty for second on the NHL's goal-scoring list and one behind Sidney Crosby for the league lead.
Crosby later scored against the Calgary Flames to restore his two-goal lead over Laine and Pacioretty.
Laine hadn't scored in three games, but he now has five goals in his last eight contests.
The 18-year-old leads all rookies in goals and points, holding a one-goal advantage over Toronto Maple Leafs sensation Auston Matthews despite playing five fewer games.
