Bruins' Torey Krug: Unlikely to play in postseason opener

Rotowire9 years ago

GM Don Sweeney relayed Monday that Krug (lower body) is unlikely to play in Wednesday's playoff opener against the Senators.

Analysis:

With fellow blueliner Brandon Carlo definitely out for Game 1 of the Bruins' first-round series, heralded prospect Charlie McAvoy has joined the team and appears poised to help fill the back line void created by Krug's and Carlo's injuries. As the postseason approaches, expect vague injury updates from the Bruins on Krug, but we'd be very surprised if he's available Wednesday, and beyond that his status is cloudy. Krug, who logged eight goals and 51 points in 81 games this season, is thus a risky roll in playoff pools, as well as daily formats, at least for the time being.
