Red Wings' Petr Mrazek: Goalie coach sticking around
Mrazek's goaltending coach, Jeff Salajko, had his contract renewed for another year, MLive.com reports.
Analysis:
Mrazek has a rich history with Salajko, dating back to their days with AHL Grand Rapids (2013-15). The Czech goalie posted an 18-21-9 record, 3.04 GAA and .901 save percentage with a single shutout this year, numbers that paled in comparison to his first campaign as a full-time netminder in 2015-16, when he worked in a 27-16-6 record, 2.33 GAA, .921 save percentage and four shutouts. Of course, the Red Wings had problems across the board this time around, and Mrazek could bounce right back if GM Ken Holland can just find a way to court a couple of two-way defensemen in free agency.
