Eriksson Ek stayed at No. 2 among European goaltenders, according to NHL Central Scouting, from the midterm rankings to the end of the season. He's expected to return to the J20 team for the 2017-18 season to continue his development. He's smaller than counterpart Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen, but posted the better stats this past season, albeit in different leagues. Luukkonen took the edge in the Under-18 World Championships.
Scouts have praised Eriksson Ek's quickness and ability to make desperation saves.
