7 must-see moments from Thursday's jam-packed NHL slate

The last night of NHL action before the All-Star break is usually a wild one, and Thursday's 15-game slate certainly didn't disappoint.

With only the Los Angeles Kings getting the night off, there were plenty of impressive plays and accomplishments around the league.

Here are seven moments you need to see from an extremely busy evening of hockey:

Callahan blows by Gostisbehere, buries stunning shorty

The goal of the night came from an unlikely source.

Ryan Callahan's second of the season was a dandy, as he stickhandled past Shayne Gostisbehere, drove around Michal Neuvirth, and deposited a beautiful shorthanded marker.

Teravainen goes backhand shelf on Price

The Carolina Hurricanes and Montreal Canadiens combined for seven second-period goals, and the best one came off the stick of Teuvo Teravainen, who cruised in off a turnover and roofed his second of the game past Carey Price.

DeBrincat and Toews work the give-and-go

Alex DeBrincat has been a real bright spot for the otherwise disappointing Chicago Blackhawks this season, and he had himself a game Thursday night.

The 20-year-old put up four points in a 5-1 win over the Detroit Red Wings, including a hat trick capped off by an empty-netter.

DeBrincat's second goal of the game came following a sweet passing sequence with Jonathan Toews.

Ovechkin tips home No. 30

Alex Ovechkin is showing no signs of slowing down at age 32.

The Washington Capitals superstar came into Thursday's action leading the league in goal-scoring, and he padded that lead with a deft deflection for his 30th of the season.

Ovechkin joined some impressive company with the goal, which gave him his 13th consecutive 30-goal campaign, and he also picked up his 500th career assist earlier in the game.

Henrique strips Laine, fires one over Hellebuyck

Adam Henrique stole the puck from Patrik Laine, appeared to take a high stick from the Winnipeg Jets sniper, then whipped a terrific shot past goaltender Connor Hellebuyck.

Strome's would-be winner controversially disallowed

The Edmonton Oilers had what would have been the overtime winner against the Calgary Flames called back in controversial fashion Thursday night.

Ryan Strome's goal was disallowed on a goaltender interference review, despite minimal contact by Connor McDavid on Flames netminder David Rittich.

McDavid gives it to the officials after winning it in shootout

McDavid clearly wasn't happy about the earlier goal being called back, as he mockingly asked the officials to review his shootout winner a few minutes later.
