The Pittsburgh Penguins aren't actively pursuing Buffalo Sabres forward Evander Kane, a team source told Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
Trading for Kane would require some heavy lifting from Penguins general manager Jim Rutherford, as the team is tight up against the salary cap, and Kane has a cap hit of $5.25 million.
The team acquired Derick Brassard from the Ottawa Senators on Friday in a three-way deal with the Vegas Golden Knights.
Kane remains a hot commodity on the trade market, having put up 20 goals and 20 assists this season on a struggling Sabres team.
