The Pittsburgh Penguins have signed forward Patric Hornqvist to a five-year contract extension worth $5.3 million per season, the team announced Tuesday.

A two-time Stanley Cup winner, Hornqvist has recorded 32 points through 51 games this season, good for seventh place in team scoring.

The Penguins acquired Hornqvist from the Nashville Predators in 2014 in exchange for forward James Neal.

Nashville drafted the 31-year-old in the seventh round of the 2005 draft.
