New York Islanders goaltender Robin Lehner won the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy on Wednesday night.
The honor recognizes perseverance, sportsmanship, and dedication to hockey.
Lehner had some powerful words upon accepting the award.
The netminder opened up about his substance addiction and mental health issues on the first day of training camp this past season.
Lehner became the third player in Islanders history to receive the Masteron, joining Ed Westfall (1977) and Mark Fitzpatrick (1992).
San Jose Sharks forward Joe Thornton and Columbus Blue Jackets captain Nick Foligno were the other finalists for the award.
