The New York Rangers dealt forward Jimmy Vesey to the Buffalo Sabres for a third-round draft pick in 2021, the teams announced Monday.
Vesey, 26, has one year remaining on his current contract at a $2.275-million cap hit before he hits unrestricted free agency.
The Sabres acquired Vesey's rights in 2016 from the Nashville Predators, but he ultimately chose to sign with the Rangers after being heavily pursued following a Hobey Baker-winning season with Harvard.
Vesey registered 17 goals and 18 assists while averaging just over 16 minutes across 81 games in 2018-19.
