Free-agent defenseman Patrik Nemeth has signed a two-year contract with the Detroit Red Wings, the team announced Monday. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Nemeth represents the second free-agent signing under general manager Steve Yzerman in 2019 after Valtteri Filppula inked a two-year deal with Detroit earlier Monday.
The veteran blue-liner spent the last two seasons with the Colorado Avalanche after five years with the Dallas Stars organization. He registered one goal, 10 points, and 53 penalty minutes across 74 games in 2018-19.
Nemeth is a big-bodied defenseman who brings a stout presence to the Red Wings and helps suppress scoring chances.
