Buffalo Sabres defenseman Matt Hunwick is not expected to play in the 2019-20 campaign due to a neck condition, general manager Jason Botterill announced Wednesday.
Hunwick's injury limited him to just two points in 14 games last season.
The 34-year-old has one year remaining on his current contract at a cap hit of $2.25 million, and he's expected to be placed on long-term injured reserve.
Over his 12-year NHL career, Hunwick's also suited up for the Boston Bruins, Colorado Avalanche, New York Rangers, Toronto Maple Leafs, and Pittsburgh Penguins.
