San Jose Sharks defenseman Brenden Dillon will not receive supplemental discipline for his check to Toronto Maple Leafs forward Auston Matthews, according to Sportsnet's Chris Johnston.
Dillon caught Matthews up high as the Maple Leafs star crossed the Sharks' blue line in the second period of Friday night's contest. Dillon was not penalized on the play.
Matthews left the game to enter concussion protocol but returned for the third period. He said postgame he "felt fine" and was "just shaken up."
The Sharks rearguard said he apologized to Matthews postgame.
Matthews scored his ninth goal of the season with 30 seconds left in regulation as Toronto pulled out a 4-1 victory.
