Everything you need to know about the Moustache Cup
It's November, which means only one thing: It's actually Movember.
This month, Movember, in partnership with the NHL and NHLPA, is taking fundraising to another level with the first Moustache Cup.
Here's what you need to know about the Moustache Cup, a fundraising initiative like no other:
- 11 teams across the NHL, and their designated "Moustache Cup Captain," will go head-to-head to raise funds in support of men's health
- Each captain will grow his own moustache and spearhead fundraising activity on behalf of his team
- The player who best exemplifies the qualities of moustachery and who raises the most funds through fan networks will be awarded the Moustache Cup
Here's a look at the teams and captains taking part:
Team | Captain |
---|---|
Anaheim Ducks | Adam Henrique |
Calgary Flames | Mikael Backlund |
Chicago Blackhawks | Andrew Shaw |
Columbus Blue Jackets | David Savard |
Edmonton Oilers | Zack Kassian |
Florida Panthers | Jonathan Huberdeau |
Minnesota Wild | Marcus Foligno |
Ottawa Senators | Dylan DeMelo |
Vancouver Canucks | Jake Virtanen |
Vegas Golden Knights | Alex Tuch |
Winnipeg Jets | Mathieu Perreault |
Fans are encouraged to take part by joining their captain's Movember team and helping raise funds alongside their favorite players. The top fundraising fan from the Moustache Cup-winning team will receive two tickets to watch their favorite team play live, and will also present the Moustache Cup to their captain at a postgame meet and greet.
