Bourque led the way for a young Cataractes team during the 2019-20 regular season, tying for the team lead in points. Aside from 16-year-old Xavier Bourgault, who played 14 more games than Bourque, no other Shawinigan player reached the 50-point mark.
Bourque doesn't stand out physically, and he doesn't fly up and down the ice with jaw-dropping straight-line speed. He's very intelligent, however, and has great vision and patience. He also has excellent puck-protection skills despite his small stature. Though he excels at slowing the play down with the puck on his stick, he'll have to play with more pace to succeed in the NHL.
What they're saying
"He's a guy that's everything to that team, he plays probably too much for a player his age," Philadelphia Flyers assistant general manager Brent Flahr told NBC Sports' Jordan Hall in May. "Every game I've seen him, he's on the ice pretty much half of the game. Third game in three days, he doesn't have a lot left in the tank, but a real character kid. He's undersized a little bit but he can skate, he can play both ends of the rink, he likes to score, he likes all facets of the game, and you can tell he's a gamer."
