Montreal Canadiens forward Max Domi has been given a 7-to-10 day period to decide whether or not he'll participate in Phase 3 of the NHL's return-to-play plan, general manager Marc Bergevin announced Sunday.
The extension gives both parties more time to decide if it will be safe for Domi to participate in training camp with Type 1 diabetes. Teams are slated to report to camp Monday.
Domi, 25, tallied 17 goals and 44 points while logging 17:06 of average ice time per game over 71 contests this season.
Clubs will arrive in their respective hub cities July 26 before the qualifying round begins Aug. 1. The Canadiens will take on the Pittsburgh Penguins in their best-of-five play-in series.
