Team Canada captain Kirby Dach left Wednesday's 1-0 exhibition win over Russia with an apparent hand injury following an awkward collision.
Canada head coach Andre Tourigny didn't provide an update on Dach's status postgame except that he is with team doctors and still needs to undergo X-rays.
The Chicago Blackhawks loaned the 19-year-old to Team Canada with the NHL season not set to begin until Jan. 13.
Chicago drafted Dach third overall in 2019. He spent the majority of the 2019-20 season on the Blackhawks' NHL roster so wasn't on Canada's gold-winning team last year.
The preliminary round is set to begin Friday, but Canada won't play until Saturday.
