Ryan Nugent-Hopkins is staying in Edmonton.
The Oilers signed the former No. 1 overall pick to an eight-year contract with an average annual value of $5.125 million, the team announced Tuesday.
The deal includes a no-movement clause, a source confirmed to The Athletic's Pierre LeBrun.
Nugent-Hopkins, 28, saw a dip in his production during the 2020-21 season after putting up career-high numbers the previous two campaigns. In 52 games this season, he managed 16 goals and 19 assists. Last year, he scored at a 77-point pace over 82 games.
His new contract figures to keep him in Edmonton for the majority of his career as it's set to expire when he's 35 years old.
